ABOUT OUR COMMUNITY

Fallon County is a county located in eastern Montana that is bordered on the east by North Dakota. The county was originally part of Custer County but was established as Fallon County in 1913. Fallon County is home to approximately 2,890 residents (2010 Census) with two incorporated communities; the Town of Plevna and the City of Baker.
Baker is the county seat and is host to many small businesses along with most county government services. The Milwaukee Railroad was built through the area in the early 1900s and the city of Baker is named after a Milwaukee Railroad engineer, A.G. Baker.
Plevna was named after a Bulgarian city, Pleven. Plevna in Russian translates to “city of churches.” Also occurring in the early 1900's was the discovery of oil and gas in the county which precipitated further growth.
Currently, the primary industries within the county are agriculture (both dry land farming and ranching) and oil and gas. The county offers a great rural setting and small-town feel with a great sense of community and school pride.
